Buying artwork
Shipping costs differ greatly depending on where it needs to be sent. That's why I'm not selling artwork straight from this website. If you're interested in purchasing something, just send me an email where you live and which product you’re interested in and I will find out the costs for you. It also depends on whether you buy one or more products, since I combine shipping. You can contact me here.
Paintings
My paintings are all ready to hang. The sides are painted so there is no need for a frame (although you can frame it if you prefer). The bigger ones have a hanging system in place, the small ones (20x20cm and smaller) don’t. It’s not much use putting a hook on there, since they hang perfectly straight against the wall when you just hang them over a small nail. All my paintings are sealed with several coats of matte varnish for protection.
Mosaics
My mosaics have a base of MDF or wood. I use selfmade claypieces as well as commercial tiles, usually glass tiles. Every mosaic has one tile with my artist name on there. These mosaics are truly one-of-a-kind pieces, since most or all tiles are handmade. Because of the fragility of these mosaics, I prefer not to sell them online, because the shipping costs will more than likely exceed the cost of the mosaic. However, if you’re interested in purchasing one of my mosaics, please contact me and I will find out the shipping costs for you. Please keep in mind that I will have to add extra insurance because of the fragility of these items.
Prints
I sell prints of my paintings in A4-size (21x29,5cm - 8,3x11,6 inches). Any painting you see on this site can be made into a print. If you prefer, I can even take just a part of a painting to make a print from. If you want a different size, please contact me here. The prints are professionally made on heavyweight 300gsm matte paper and have a slightly satin finish. There is always a border around the image for easy framing. The size of the border depends on the dimensions of the original painting.
Commissions
This is a hard one. I have done commissions for paintings in the past, but I didn’t enjoy them. Mostly because I want to be able to change things when the painting wants to go a different direction. I can start out with a certain idea in my head, and end up with a totally different painting. I love that! I love the unexpectedness of a painting telling me which way to go, the possibility of changing my plans along the way. My latest paintings are very intuitive; when I start I have no idea what’s going to come out of it. I really Have. No. Idea. I look for something in the marks and if I can’t see anything I just keep adding layers, until something jumps out at me and I decide to go with that. You can see examples of how I work on my blog.
So, no, I don’t do commissions. At least not paintings. I might take into consideration painting a custom box, or maybe even a custom mosaic, but I’ll always need the freedom to do it my way. I can’t follow strict instructions. I’m sorry. So if you see something that you like, you better grab it right away. Because I can’t promise you I’ll reproduce it. Please contact me if you have any questions about this.
